Good morning beautiful sexy people of Hot Literati.
I’ve been thinking very very carefully about the next book club pick because I think the last two have been ok, but not amazing. I want you to read stuff that is good for you, particularly in relationship with what’s going on in the world.
Which is why for July, I’ve picked Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last week,
, , and I were chatting about life. How we all felt a little aimless. And I think this book provides encouragement and asks the right questions of you. Like what you want out of life and how hard you’re willing to work to get it.OK SO
I’ve also meditated long and hard on an actual product I can give you guys, because imo digital community is becoming a little over-saturated (everyone has one now :ooooo and don’t worry I will keep ours bc you guys are literally the best, but I want to give you an actual product that adds value to your life and your future).
Also… subscription fatigue. I’m tired lol I know you guys are too.
So in addition to book club I’ve made two things:
AUDIOBOOK <333333 - I spent HOURS recording myself reading this thing in a fun, cute, flirty tone of voice unlike the AI bullshit all over Youtube.
Hot Literati Reading Companion - so I made this day by day reading guide that has journaling prompts, reflections, tidbits from me on each section, and more. It will help you get through the full book in 30 days. also this way u can do like audio book or e book or library and still have ur thoughts on it somewhere.
I made these things because I wanted them myself, and I hope you will enjoy them.
And for all of my sweet substack babies that found the community through this platform, I present coupon codes
SUBSTACKAUDIO for 15% off the audiobook
SUBSTACK for 15% off the reading companion
And book club will start the week of July 6th for this book <33333
and also
We’re only doing one event in New York this summer. It is next weekend. A happy hour/philosophical salon comparing Love Island to the Stanford Prison Experiment, because IMO there are similarities.
The dress code is Love Island. You can bring a book to swap. No smartphones, please, or at the very least no pictures. Be present have fun. See u there xx
also on book club again
our subconscious minds are very impressionable and the books blowing up and the ones that have been canonized over the past 100 years are by people who did not figure out how to cope with life?!?!?!!?
Back when I dating this one hot, grumpy executive, I thought I was going crazy because I was reading The Mind’s I by Hofstadter and was getting sick a lot and had all of these posters of my favorite authors in my room, and he looked at me, looked up at them, and went
“Well do you think they were well-adjusted?”
The answer is no. Sylvia Plath has good prose, but I don’t want to grow up to be her. David Foster Wallace seemed cool as f*ck, but I don’t want to end up like him either.
Napoleon Hill on the other hand. That’s a life philosophy I wouldn’t mind having in my mind. And I’ve read the book recently, so I’m comfy suggesting it (and yapping it in your ear if you get the audio book lol).
Happy reading or listening.
alllllll my love

Think and Grow Rich Reading Guide (e-book)
Think and Grow Rich Audiobook :*****
Happy Hour June 27th theme is LOVE ISLAND
there's a video on Youtube, an extensive and well researched one that talks about the similarities between Love Island and the Panopticon, maybe you'd like it : )) ...but on important note, your substack is the only subscription i have that i've probably read every article/essay of. I'm not a paid subscriber so i can only read ones that aren't paywalled. I'd love to pay for subscription if i ever move out of this country and get an international card/bank. All this to say that i really appreciate what you've done for my internet. I don't know how a girl from Kansas living in New York is so relatable to a girl born and living in Ethiopia, East Africa(one of the thing i like about the internet) but yeah you're one of my favorite humans on the internet.
Is book club included with the Substack subscription or the updated website sub?
